How you feel about your weight is personal to you.
Many people do not need to be concerned about their weight, as they arenât in immediate danger of health issues. Neither are they overweight or obese.
Medically, if you are 'overweight' you will have a BMI of more than 25. So, you might be advised by your GP to make some lifestyle changes to try and lose weight.

Does the Semaglutide work?
Semaglutide â is the active ingredient in Rybelsus, Ozempic and Wegovy.
Semaglutide works by mimicking your naturally-occurring GLP-1 hormones, they act on your gut and brain to make you feel full faster and for longer.
Are there any side effects?
GLP-1-related side effects tend to be mild and short-lived while your body adjusts to the medication and dose. Common side effects include an upset stomach for the first few weeks, e.g. nausea, diarrhoea, stomach cramps, bloating, and belching.

How long before I see the difference in weight loss?
We are unable to put a timeline on your treatment because everyone is different, and people get different results at different times. However, sustainable weight loss and a healthy lifestyle is a gradual process that requires consistency.
That is why our programme is holistic, focusing not only on your biology but also on nutrition, exercise, sleep, and mindset. If you focus on these behaviours alongside medication youâll get better results and achieve your weight loss aims quickly.
Losing some percentage of your overall body weight will significantly lower your chance of developing high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes. This may also improve your sleep pattern, exercise, and energy level and encourage healthy habits.
What is the titration dose:
We usually commence clients on low dose of 0.25mg or 2.5mg which increases over 4 weeks period if all goes well.
If youâre starting for the first time you will usually start on 0.25mg weekly injection of Ozempic, 2.5mg Tirzepatide or 3mg daily tablet of Rybelsus.
At the end of this 28-day period, your dose will increase following a brief consultation.
After your first month of treatment, you may be increased to either a 0.5mg or 5mg weekly injection or 7mg Rybelsus daily tablet, ongoing till you complete further titration and stabilise on the optimal dose and monitor.
Your prescriber will make the final decision on your dosage and treatment, but you will be able to indicate your preference with them during your consultation.

What should I do if I miss my dose:
If you forget to use your injection on your usual day, you can just inject yourself as soon as you remember, as long as itâs within 5 days from your usual injection day.
For example, if you usually inject yourself on Wednesday, then you can take your missed dose up until Sunday.
If more than 5 days have passed since you were supposed to use your injection, you should skip the missed dose and continue as normal when your next dose is due. For example, if you usually inject yourself on Wednesday and have not taken your injection until Sunday, then you should take it the following Wednesday and not on Monday or other days. Do not inject yourself twice to make up for the forgotten dose.
How should I store my medications:
Before opening, your medication should be stored at a temperature between 2°C â 8°C. Unused pens that are stored in the fridge are safe to use up until their expiry date.
Do not freeze it. Once you start using the pen you can either store it in the fridge or keep it outside the fridge for up to 6 weeks. If you decide to keep it outside the fridge, ensure that the temperature does not exceed 30 degrees C.
Do not use this product if the expiry date printed on the original packaging has passed.
Are there any side effects?
Like any new medication you take, your body will have to adjust to it and it is likely to cause some side effects. Some of the most common side effects are the following:
- Feeling sick (nausea)
- Diarrhoea
- Constipation
- Indigestion
- Inflamed stomach (gastritis)
- Reflux or heartburn
- Stomach pain and bloating of the stomach
- Burping
- Gallstones
- Tiredness
- Increase of pancreatic enzymes (such as lipase and amylase).
How does the medication work?
The active ingredient in Ozempic or Wegovy is Semaglutide, a medication which is similar to a naturally occurring hormone in your body which is called GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1). This is an appetite hormone, that helps regulate hunger and helps our brain to recognise that weâre satisfied and donât need any more food. By helping reduce your appetite and making you feel fuller, this may lead to you consuming fewer calories and therefore losing weight. When paired with a low-calorie diet and regular exercise, this treatment can help you to lose weight and keep it off.
Is Wegovy different from Semaglutide?
Wegovy is the brand name for the molecule Semaglutide and licenced for weight loss.
